Lance Crabtree
A Fighter, A Father, A Grandfather — Standing Strong
To those who know him, he is so much more than a name — he is a brother to Stacy and Travis, a devoted father to his two sons, Luke and Colin, and the proud, loving grandfather of three beautiful grandchildren, Hayes, James, and Alaina. His family is his heart, and now, his family and friends are rallying around him the way he has always shown up for them.
In February 2026, what began as a troubling symptom — blood in his urine — set off a chain of events that would change his life. His personal care physician ran blood tests and found that his PSA levels were alarmingly high, prompting an urgent referral to a urologist. What followed was a whirlwind of CT scans, an MRI, biopsies, and finally a PET scan — each step bringing him closer to an answer, and further into uncertainty.
The diagnosis: metastatic stage 4 prostate cancer. The disease had spread beyond his prostate, into multiple lymph nodes in his pelvis and abdomen. It was devastating news to absorb — a diagnosis that, for now, is treatable, but not curable.
Since then, he has faced this fight with remarkable courage. He is currently undergoing hormone injection therapy at MD Anderson, which began in August, with radiation treatment to follow at a date still to be determined. This will be a long road — treatment is expected to continue for at least two years.
Through it all, he has never walked this path alone, and he never will.
That’s why CureFest is coming together to help lighten his load — to ease the financial and emotional burden of this battle — with a special benefit on January 8th at the Humble Civic Center. It’s a chance for this community to wrap its arms around him and his family, the way he has always wrapped his arms around others.
Stay tuned — more details are coming soon. Until then, please keep him, Luke, Colin, Hayes, James, Alaina, and the whole family close in your hearts.
